Arkansas basketball names Todd Lee director of recruiting, assistant to head coach

Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman named Todd Lee the Razorbacks’ director of scouting and assistant to the head coach on Friday.

Lee formerly served as South Dakota’s head coach. He and Musselman worked together with the Rapid City Thrillers of the CBA from 1992-94, and Lee coached Razorback Stanley Umude at South Dakota before he transferred to Arkansas in 2021.

“Todd is exceptionally detailed and specific,” Musselman said in a school release. “He is a veteran coach and he’s here to serve as an additional pair of eyes. He will bring new ideas to the staff on how to view things, how to scheme on both ends of the court and how to attack things.”

Lee has 12 years of experience as a collegiate head coach, leading South Dakota to a 66-52 record in his four years there (2018-22). Prior to that, he spent eight years as the head coach at Kentucky Wesley (2005-13), racking up a record of 154-81.

Lee was named the 2021 Summit League coach of the year after leading the Coyotes to a 14-11 record, including going 11-4 in the conference.

“One of the things about being a former head coach is when you’re not a head coach, you know what it takes to be a great assistant, and Todd Lee will be a perfect fit in that regard,” Musselman said in the release.
