Quarterback Josh Dobbs recently connected with another member of the Arizona Cardinals family who has alopecia — a cheerleader named Ellie.

In a sweet exchange shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the team, Dobbs met Ellie on the practice field and they shared similar stories about being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder that attacks hair follicles and causes hair loss.

“How long have you had alopecia?” Dobbs, 28, asked the cheerleader, who then replied that she was diagnosed in January.

“Very recent,” she said. “So basically right before auditions, I had lost 85%. I shaved it all and showed up to auditions with no hair.”

For the athlete, alopecia has been a part of his life for a bit longer. Dobbs said his hair started falling out in the third grade, grew back, and then by college it was nearly gone.

“One day my razor broke, and I was like damn, I have to go buy a new razor. And then my hair never grew back after that,” the University of Tennessee alum said.

The two then shared a laugh about the unpredictability of their mutual condition before hugging goodbye.

Dobbs is currently the team’s starting quarterback in place of an injured Kyler Murray, who tore his ACL in a game against the New England Patriots last December.

The former aerospace engineering major also made another member of the Cardinals staff happy this week — when he lost a bet with teammate and Florida alum D.J. Humphries.

At the Wednesday press conference, Dobbs had to don Gators gear since Tennessee lost to Florida last week.
