Ariana Madix's future on Vanderpump Rules is uncertain.

While discussing her latest book, Single AF Cocktails, at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 21, the reality star, 38, revealed what would make her return to the hit Bravo show for season 12 if it's renewed.

"I can't or I won't say [if I'm returning] but I think that ultimately, it would have to make sense for me," she told interviewer Yvonne Villarreal of a potential return to the show. "Our show has always thrived, it's always at its best when it is at its most authentic and its most real, and I have to be able to show up and be real and be authentic in order for it to make sense for me."

"So that's the question I would be asking myself going into it," the former SUR bartender added.

Madix is currently starring on season 11 of the series, which follows the aftermath of "Scandoval," when her ex Tom Sandoval sent shockwaves through their friend group by cheating on Madix with her friend and former costar Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.

Madix and Sandoval, 40, were together for nearly a decade before the affair news broke in March 2023.

Although Madix — who recently starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway — returned to film Vanderpump Rules after her breakup, she refused to film scenes with her ex.

At the show's season 11 premiere in January, she exclusively told PEOPLE that she “definitely had some anxiety” returning to Sandoval's restaurant TomTom, the place where she learned that the musician was cheating on her with Leviss, 29.

“I hadn't been there since March 1, and then I ended up sitting in the same spot. And I was like, it felt weird, like, it was weird for a second," she explained to PEOPLE.

Later, she explained in a confessional interview on the show, “I shouldn’t have to make my life smaller because Tom messed everything up and if I can go there and make new memories maybe it won’t have power over me anymore and I’ll be able to look at it as just some bar."

Madix is currently dating fitness influencer Daniel Wai.
