We heard it through the grapevine, Ariana Madix is nursing a dancing injury.

During the Dancing with the Stars season 32 Motown Night, eagle-eyed viewers might have noticed that instead of dancing in more traditional heels, Madix was sporting a pair of bedazzled kicks. Host Julianne Hough asked Madix about it in the Skybox while Madix and Pashkov awaited their scores, but Madix demurred.

Speaking to EW after the Tuesday night broadcast, Madix reveals that it was an injury that led to her alternate footwear. "I am dealing with an injury on my right foot," she says.

Close up, it was also evident that the Vanderpump Rules star was wearing a bandage or some type of brace around her right ankle beneath her tights.

Some viewers might have also thought that judge Carrie Ann Inaba's warning to Pashkov and Madix to "be careful" was also in regards to the potential injury. But Madix says that was about Inaba being concerned there was a lift in their quickstep, a no-no in that style of ballroom dance.

"She was referring to the fact that I jumped really high and Pasha was trying to keep me down, but I think she wasn't sure if he was lifting me or not," Madix explains. "Which he was not."

No further details on Madix's injury were available, but whatever is wrong, it didn't stop her from delivering an elegant quickstep, dazzling while dressed in a feather-lined gown that evoked the romance of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (which Pashkov reveals was the direct inspiration for their choreography Tuesday night).

Madix and Pashkov tied with Jason Mraz and his partner Daniella Karagach, earning 34 points to top the leaderboard with her and partner Pasha Pashkov's quickstep to  "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes.

Next week, the couple return to keep fighting for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy on a special night honoring the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney Studios.
