Ariana Grande shows off 'new earrings' to flaunt blonde hair ahead of 'Wicked': See photo

Ariana Grande is switching up hairstyles, for you.

In sharp contrast to her signature brunette look, the pop icon debuted blonde locks on her Instagram as she prepares to take on the role of Glinda the good in the upcoming film adaptation of "Wicked."

Grande posted the new hairdo on Instagram Wednesday with a cheeky caption: "New earrings."

Fellow stars commented on the switch up, including "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu.

"Earrings look great," he commented.

"She's arrived," frequent musical collaborator Victoria Monet wrote.

Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton wrote, "Oh Hi old friend."

While the singer has sported blonde hair in the past, the all-blonde wash is getting fans excited for her upcoming lead role.

The 29-year-old Grammy winner will star in "Wicked" as the lead alongside Cynthia Ervivo, starring as Elphaba. The Universal Pictures vehicle will release in two parts, with the first premiering around Christmas Day in 2024 and the second during the holidays in 2025.

"It became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of 'Wicked' into a single film without doing some real damage to it," Chu announced in April on Twitter. "So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one 'Wicked' movie but two!"

Grande did a photo dump on Instagram earlier in October giving sneak peeks into the behind-the-scenes work of "Wicked," with photos of her and Ervivo taking mirror selfies in a dance studio and some witchy decor, including a welcome mat and a witch's broom decorated in lights.

"Just like magic," she attracted the role after singing tunes from the musical to celebrate the 15-year anniversary celebration of the production in 2018 for NBC's "A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway."

Kristin Chenoweth, who won a Tony award for her playing Glinda in the original production, tweeted her congratulations to Grande when the casting was announced in 2021 along with a 2011 tweet Grande made about wanting to play Glinda one day.

"I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this proud. From the very first day I met you, you were destined for this role," Chenoweth wrote.
