Detroit’s own Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Martha and the Vandellas appear on former President Barack Obama’s summer 2023 playlist, released in a tweet Thursday.

Also logging an entry is the legendary Tina Turner, who died in May of this year.

The annual summer playlist drop never fails to excite the American public and generate discourse on the quality of selections, as well as what’s missing. This year’s list includes rappers Tupac Shakur, Nas, Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj; jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald and John Coltrane; Afrobeat artist Burna Boy; country artist Luke Combs; reggae band Toots and the Maytals; classic rockers Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, and many more.
