Apply now for Christmas in Ida's Parade of Lights

IDA – Applications are now available for the 41st annual Christmas in Ida Parade of Lights, to be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The parade is part of the Christmas in Ida festival and is presented by DTE Energy. Entries are due Nov. 20.

This year, more than 120 illuminated and animated floats, fire trucks, large parade balloons, bands, cartoon characters and marching units will join farm implements in lighted displays. Thousands watch the parade each year, live and online.

Operating agriculture equipment and antique tractors will be the Southeast Michigan Antique Tractor and Engines Association and Monroe County 4-H groups.

The parade will be livestreamed on parade night at youtube.com/user/MPACTStudio. It will be shown on Monroe Public Access Cable TV throughout the holiday season; the first airing will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 9. Participating stations are MPACT Charter Communications, D & P Communications, Buckeye, and Comcast.

Parade applications can be downloaded and submitted online at christmasida.com. They also can be submitted at Zorn’s Service Inc. and Knabusch Insurance Center in downtown Ida. The submission deadline is Nov. 20.

The parade follows the Family Christmas Fireworks Show presented by Consumers Energy and is the finale of the weekend festival. Matt LaVoy is chairman of the Parade of Lights, and Bob Knabusch is co-chairman.
