Apple Music subscribers will soon be able to exclusively watch the new Clive Davis documentary.
The streaming music platform, which over the last year has branched out into producing and buying original video programming, has landed Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives from IM Global and Scott Free Productions.
Based on the 2013 best-selling autobiography of the same name, the doc profiles the five-time Grammy winner from his humble beginnings to his position as a legendary music mogul, working with everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Whitney Houston to Alicia Keys.
IM Global financed the film, which was directed by Chris Perkel and produced by Scott Free Productions' Michael Bernstein. Ridley Scott and Mary Lisio executive produced alongside IM Global's Stuart Ford, David Schulhof and Deborah Zipser.
"Apple is a global innovator that has revolutionized the distribution of music," said Davis. "It is a touching honor to share the music and unique stories that have shaped my career with millions of Apple Music subscribers around the world. I am overjoyed to work with them to continue this incredible journey."
Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives opened the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday at Radio City Music Hall. The screening was followed by a concert with performances by Aretha Franklin; Jennifer Hudson; Earth, Wind & Fire; Dionne Warwick; Carly Simon; and Barry Manilow.
"It is a great honor for us to be working with Apple Music on the worldwide distribution of Soundtrack of Our Lives, and it's perfect positioning for a movie that chronicles the career of one of the music industry's icons over the past 50 years," said Ford.
The deal was negotiated by WME Global and Craig Emmanuel of Loeb & Loeb on behalf of the filmmakers and general counsel Zipser on behalf of IM Global.
