The Latest Apple Event
The latest Apple Event occurred on Tuesday afternoon, unveiling the latest iPhones and other new Apple innovations. They showed the designs for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max (both of which have 4 figure price tags) as well as the cheaper iPhone 11. One of the major updates is an improved camera that features three different lenses on the phone.
People Are Having Strong Reactions
While you would think that users would be delighted by the new and improved cameras -- but probably not the hefty price tag -- but the multi-lense design is having an odd effect. People are not thinking about the bomb selfie potential but rather their triggered trypophobia.
If you are unfamiliar with this particular fear, Trypophobia is "an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes, or bumps." While this might seem a little silly, look at those lenses again. Yeah. Maybe a bit off-putting.
Is This A Design Flaw?
Some people are calling this complaint silly, claiming that people can freak out about the slightest things these days. Which, again, is fair, but don't those tiny holes just make your scalp crawl and itch?
The Endless Cycle
That being said, I get the feeling that people will definitely be lining up to get the latest Apple gadget, Trypophobia or not. The siren call of consumerism almost always wins.
