The iPad Air (2020) is our all-around favorite tablet and our testers found it's as capable as the pricier iPad Pro at a range of computing tasks, but available for a cheaper price. The Pro's OS makes it easier to work and jump between different apps while offering eight hours of battery life. We were also impressed with the Pro's light aluminum body and sleek glass face, which makes it seem ultra-modern.

In our testing, we found the Fire HD 10's plastic construction surprisingly sturdy and pleasant to hold, while its battery life offered seven hours and 18 minutes of continuous video playback. It can also be recharged with its USB-C port. Though it has a relatively small collection of apps, the Fire HD 10 offers easy access to those apps with its Android-akin user interface.
