'Newsies' on Broadway: Behind the scenes of the album recording
Before Disney’s Newsies celebrates its big opening night on Broadway, there’s another reason to seize the day: the show’s original cast recording, which is set to be released digitally on April 10 and in stores on May 15. Pre-orders for the album have already begun on iTunes, and if you haven’t already heard the toe-tapping score by Disney legend Alan Menken and lyricist Jack Feldman, then you best click over here to see — or hear — what everyone’s been singing about.
EW got its hands on an exclusive video from behind the scenes in the studio, where the Newsies gathered to record the original cast album, featuring songs from the cult 1992 film, including “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day” and, on the physical release, a special rendition of “Santa Fe,” performed by Jeremy Jordan and accompanied by Alan Menken.
