'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek Reveals He Had Surgery to Remove Blood Clots on His Brain

Alex Trebek has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, he announced on Wednesday.

Alex Trebek is in full recovery following surgery.

The Jeopardy!host took to social media on Thursday to reveal that over the holiday break he underwent a procedure to remove blood clots on his brain.

"Alex underwent surgery in late December, but he’s already up and around. We’ll let him tell you the news," the official Jeopardy! Twitter wrote alongside a clip of Trebek, 77, explaining his situation.

"Some of you may have heard that during the holiday break I had a slight medical problem," Trebek begins. "A subdural hematoma, blood clots on the brain caused by a fall I endured about two months ago."

"Surgery was performed. After two days in the hospital, I came home to start recovery," he continued. "The prognosis is excellent and I expect to be back in the studio, taping more Jeopardy programs very, very soon. And I want to thank all of you for your concern."

Trebek has previously suffered several health setbacks, including a torn Achilles tendon in 2011 after he chased a burglar out of his San Francisco hotel room. He also suffered a mild heart attack in 2012 and in 2007, returning to work just weeks later.

Additionally, in 2015 he hosted Jeopardy! seated due to a knee replacement.

However, the TV personality appears to be in good spirits and back to his old self following his recent surgery.
