'Constantine' ratings cursed on Halloween

NBC’s Constantine took a tumble in the ratings Friday night. The Halloween episode of the freshman supernatural thriller had only 3.1 million viewers and 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. That’s down 36 percent from last week’s premiere. Constantine lead-in Grimm (4.5 million, 1.1) fell too, but a bit less than the new show (21 percent).

Of course, Friday nights are tough in general, and the Halloween holiday can make it even tougher for shows to draw viewers. Overall TV usage levels last night were down 10 percent from last week when Fox aired Game 3 of the World Series. But don’t tell that to ABC’s Shark Tank (7.6 million, 2.0), which went up 11 percent. In fact, this marks a season high for the deal-making reality show.

Also Friday in the demo: CBS’ Amazing Race (1.1) was up a tick, Hawaii Five-O (1.1) was steady and Blue Bloods (1.1) dropped slightly. ABC’s Last Man Standing (1.2) and Cristela (1.0) were basically steady. Fox’s Utopia (0.5) is doing really terrible.
