'Bohemian Rhapsody': Fox Halts Production on Queen Biopic Over Bryan Singer's 'Unexpected Unavailability'
Production on Bohemian Rhapsody has been halted.
"Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on the Queen biopic due to the unexpected unavailability of [director] Bryan Singer," the studio said in a statement obtained by ET.
In a statement to ET, the 52-year-old director's rep cited a "personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family" for his absence, adding, "Bryan hopes to get back to work on the film soon after the holidays."
The movie is supposed to premiere on Dec. 25, 2018.
Rami Malek, who plays Queen's late frontman, Freddie Mercury, in the film, opened up to ET at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards in January about portraying the iconic singer.
"I'm stoked," Malek told ET's Kevin Frazier. "I mean, one of the most iconic bands ever and just to be a part of that is huge."
"I will sing a little bit," he added. "Why not?"
