'Bachelor in Paradise' Alums Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski Call It Quits

The pair got engaged on the 'BIP' finale earlier this year.

Bachelor in Paradise favorites Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton have broken up.

In Instagram posts with matching captions on Tuesday, the formerly engaged couple announced that they have decided to end their romantic relationship.

"One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that it’s okay to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness. To fight for what is real and good, and that often times the hardest thing and the right thing are the same," the caption read. "We’ve reached a point in our story where we agree it’s best to go our separate ways. We have chosen to love and respect each other as friends because that’s the base of our relationship, and it’s what is most natural for us."

"We are incredibly thankful for the support we’ve received from our family, friends and everyone who supported us throughout our journey - from paradise to this moment," they continued. "We are grateful for everything that we’ve learned in this chapter, and are hopeful for what is to come in life and in love for both of us."

In Bukowski's post, which shows him embracing Morton during their BIP engagement, he added an additional comment, writing, "I’ll cherish this pictured moment for [the] rest of my life. @katieemo ❤️"

BIP alums including Dylan Barbour, Sydney Lotuaco, Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Onyeka Ehie responded with lots of heart emojis and love on both Bukowski and Morton's posts.

The former couple's engagement was shown on the September finale of BIP. The rocky moments that plagued their time on the dating show, though, became more evident during the reunion portion of the finale when, despite still being engaged to Bukowski at the time, Morton said she was "exhausted" by the whole thing.

"We're still engaged. I just put in so much effort everyday, and I love him so much, but I put in so much that my tank empties," she told host Chris Harrison. "And if I'm not getting it filled, I break down."

"I fell in love with potential that may never come to fruition, but I'm praying it does," she added through tears. "I just... it's just the reciprocated effort... it's this push-pull. And I feel guilty."

Bukowski admitted that he's "not one to really show emotion too often," adding, "I want to give you all of that back, because you deserve it. I guess I am a little bit slower with that than you are."

After Bukowski expressed his love for Morton, the pair were caught arguing in a BTS shot, with Bukowski telling Morton, "You blindsided me."

Following the finale, though, both Morton and Bukowski took to Instagram to express their love for one another.

"I’m happy with me and we are finally happy with us," Morton captioned a pic of her and Bukowski holding hands. "We have grown so much in our friendship and now in our relationship since that day."

"Love is tough. Love is beautiful. Most importantly love is patient. Sometimes you need a shock to the system to put a fire under your a**," Bukowski captioned his post-finale photo of Morton eating pizza. "What I felt then I feel even more now. I love you @katieemo and can’t wait to feed you pizza for the rest of our lives."

As you’ve seen..It’s been the furthest from easy. From the decision to take the leap onto the beach, navigating what was real and staying true to myself, and my world that spun out afterward. None of it has been a walk in the park. BUT I’ve learned, a lot. I’ve learned to be more direct, how to challenge myself and others, I’ve learned that I’m empathetic to a fault, that love languages are so important to understanding others, that self sabotage can be found in many forms, and BOY have I learned what patience looks like. But most of all, I’ve learned that happiness isn’t something to look for in your partner. Your partner can make you laugh but your partner is not responsible for your happiness. Happiness is found within and sharing that with each other is what lights up a room! Communication is the link to everything, which is something we sure did LACK in paradise and shortly after. It took us a few months to really get our bearings (especially with some exceptional and unexpected challenges). I know none of you will truly understand why things are the way they are but I ask that you trust me and support me as I navigate this new world of mine. Because I’m happy with me and we are finally happy with us. We have grown so much in our friendship and now in our relationship since that day. Like I said to both of our parents and I will say to you- I can’t promise you this relationship will be perfect (it won’t be/ it isn’t) and I can’t promise we will last forever. Honestly, some relationships don’t last after 20 years and some do, that’s life. But what I can promise you is that I take this seriously, won’t lose myself, I will always try my best, I will always keep it real, and we will have each other’s backs. Thank you for following us through this journey of hope, faith, all of the next phases of life and more importantly - love ♥️ cheers to an effing INSANE adventure
