The music industry is reeling amid news of rapper Mac Miller's death at the age of 26.

Pain, shock and disbelief flooded twitter Friday afternoon after the shocking news broke, with famous faces joining the chorus of fans grieving the late artist.

Wiz Khalifa, who went to the same Pittsburgh high school as Miller and worked with him early in their careers, wrote, "Praying for Mac’s family and that he rest easy." He hashtagged #412, which is Pittsburgh's area code.

Chance the Rapper tweeted, "Beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. I'm completely broken. God bless him."

While many fellow rappers are expressing their condolences, other expressions of dismay are coming from outside the rap community.

Pop singer Shawn Mendes tweeted, "Unreal. So sad," while Paris Hilton wrote, "So sad to hear the news about Mac Miller. Such a talented artist."

Jay-Z, arguably the reigning king of the rap world, hasn't tweeted since June 2017 -- but ironically enough, his most recent tweet is about none other than Mac Miller. After musing that "black people really [are] magic," he added, "Mac Miller nice too though."
