After some teasing, Aphex Twin has announced a new collaboration with synthesizer company Novation. The AFX Station is a new version of the classic Bass Station II synth that comes pre-installed with “AFX Mode,” a previously released update for the Bass Station that allows each note to have disparate synth parameters.

The AFX Station also features new presets from artists and sound designers like Noyze Lab, Perplex On, Richard Devine, r beny and Lightbath. It’s out soon; find more details here and check out a trailer for the synth below. (The trailer includes a warning that it could potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy.)

Aphex Twin’s last official release was 2018’s Collapse EP. He contributed his own synth patches to the KORG Monologue synth in 2016.
