A$AP Rocky Thinks These Rap Legends Are Hip-Hop’s Best Dressers

A$AP Rocky revealed his picks for who he feels are the best dressed rap artists in Hip-Hop history during a recent interview with Complex.

When the Harlem rep is asked to list the artists he feels rocked the flyest threads since the culture’s inception, he varies his list with a heralded trendsetter from the ’90s, as well as two of the more fashion forward figures to emerge in the new millennium.

Rocky begins by naming rap legend Grand Puba as one of the more fashionable emcees of all-time, an artist who is renowned for the plethora of pieces he wore from Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfigher. The latter is even said to have personally dropped off trunk-loads of the hottest items from his collection to the Brand Nubian member during the brand’s heyday.

Kanye West was mentioned by Rocky as one of his choices and a fitting one, as the Louis Vuitton Don was one of the first male rap artists to infiltrate the fashion industry and key in on designer labels and high-end fashion. Third in Rocky’s slate of best dressers was Pharrell Williams, a figure who stepped outside of the usual comfort zones of Hip-Hop figures while remaining in step with the streetwear vibes that belied he and N.E.R.D.’s rise to prominence.

The self-proclaimed “Fashion Killa” has become a style icon himself, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Raf Simons, who famously inspired the A$AP Mob song “RAF” from the crew’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy album. He and girlfriend Rihanna, the mother of his two sons, RZA and Riot, are also frequent guests at the annual Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

In other news, the 35-year-old was recently named the creative director of Puma x F1, as part of a multi-year partnership that will include lifestyle apparel, visuals, and in-person activations. “I have always loved motorsports from a distance and the chance to work with Puma and F1 felt like the best way to disrupt the category,” Rocky told Complex. “I’m eager to explore the impact that streetwear and fashion can play beyond the track.”
