A$AP Rocky Freed From Swedish Jail Ahead of August 14 Verdict, Judge Rules

Rapper A$AP Rocky and two other suspects are being released from jail in Sweden pending a verdict in the assault case on Aug. 14. The Stockholm District Court has not yet made a ruling in the case, but said that A$AP Rocky and his two co-defendants are free to leave Sweden. The trial, which was highly publicized since the rapper’s arrest on July 3, wrapped Friday. Swedish prosecutors are asking the court to convict the 30 year-old American rapper and consider imposing at least a six-month jail sentence. He pleaded not guilty and said he was acting in self-defense. The Swedish prosecutor has asked for a six-month prison sentence. Rocky’s detention caused a worldwide stir, with even President Donald Trump calling for his release. The rapper — born Rakim Mayers — is next scheduled to perform at the Real Street Fest at the Honda Center in Anaheim–co-headlined by Cardi B, Future and Migos.
