A$AP Bari’s Defamation Lawsuit Against Alleged Assault Victim Has Been Dismissed: Report

A$AP Bari’s defamation lawsuit stemming from a 2017 incident that found him charged with two counts of sexual assault has been dismissed, TMZ reports.

In July 2017, A$AP Mob co-founder and fashion designer A$AP Bari (real name: Jabari Shelton), was accused of sexual assault after a video surfaced that seemingly depicted him sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel in London. The alleged victim later sued Bari for over $1 million (as reported by TMZ), claiming that Bari had exposed her, and yelled sexually explicit commands at her. The woman then said Bari threw her naked into the hallway of the hotel. The woman also claimed that Bari’s lawyer “pressured her to release a joint statement saying there was no assault.”

Bari was eventually arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault stemming from the incident. The designer filed his countersuit for “defamation and civil extortion for allegedly pressuring him into settling” months later.

In January 2019, Bari pled guilty to one of two charges of sexual assault. He was reportedly ordered to pay a £4,000 ($5,000) fine and £2,500 ($3,150) compensation to the alleged victim.
