Anya Taylor-Joy just recently departed from the Cannes Film Festival, where she was one of the scene-stealing attendees, thanks to her impressively large hats and flapper-inspired ensembles. Now, the Emmy-nominated actor has landed in the States, but it’s hard not to wonder if the European art scene is still inspiring her latest looks.

As she continues the promotion for her new sci-fi action film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Taylor-Joy was spotted out in New York City wearing a custom Marni minidress, which looked like it was flecked with literal streaks of paint, giving the effect of an impressionist painting.

The high-neck, halter-style piece featured a sleeveless bodice that curved inward along Taylor-Joy’s waist before it flared out for the A-line skirt. While there was a thick strip of white material along the bottom hem, the rest of the dress looked like it was covered in cerulean paint, with abstract black spots all over it—kind of like an elevated Pebbles Flintstone look.

This pattern was inspired by a look from the Marni Fall/Winter 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection, where a number of the ensembles looked like living Impressionist paintings. The stars have really been embracing the artistic look of the Italian luxury brand, with Marni dresses popping up everywhere—from Hunter Schafer’s Starry Night-esque red carpet dress to SZA’s tangerine Grammy’s gown.

Although the dress could speak for itself, the Queen’s Gambit star, along with the help of her stylist, Ryan Hastings, accessorized the look with a few simple touches, including a single silver bangle, drop earrings, a statement ring, and black cat eye sunglasses. To round out the fit, Taylor-Joy sported black strappy sandal heels, which coordinated well with the orbs on her dress.
