Anya Taylor-Joy fulfilled a childhood dream at Sunday’s 2024 Oscars ceremony.

When the Furiosa star, 27, presented at the 96th Academy Awards alongside costar Chris Hemsworth, she brought a special someone as her date: her father, Dennis Alan Taylor.

“A dreamy moment,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday alongside a gallery of photos that began with a shot of herself and her dad getting ready for the awards show.

The American-born Taylor-Joy, who was raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and London, penned the post partly in her native Spanish language. “At 12 I promised my dad that if I was ever invited to the Oscars, I would take him.. 🥹” she wrote.

She added that she was “llena de gratitud” — or “filled with gratitude.”

Taylor-Joy’s post included a shot of her showing off her silver beaded Dior Haute Couture gown, a “reimagining of the 1949 Venus Dress” from designer Maria Grazia Chiuri that the Dior ambassador called “the icing on the most delicious of cakes.”

Among the post’s comments was E! Live from the Red Carpet host Laverne Cox, who wrote to Taylor-Joy, “You are such a beautiful, talented, charismatic light!”

On Oscar Sunday, the Queen’s Gambit Emmy nominee teased her Mad Max prequel, which debuts in theaters on May 24, while speaking to Cox ahead on the red carpet.

“Those movies just invite in a certain kind of chaos,” she said of the George Miller-directed franchise, which includes 1979's Mad Max, 1981's The Road Warrior, 1985's Beyond Thunderdome and 2016's Fury Road. The latter movie introduced Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, the role Taylor-Joy inherits in the upcoming installment.

In another interview on the Oscars red carpet, Taylor-Joy told Amelia Dimoldenberg, “15 years ago I told my dad I wanted to take him to the Oscars. And tonight I did it!”

Taylor himself was interviewed on the carpet alongside his daughter. When Extra’s Billy Bush asked if he was proud of Taylor-Joy, he responded, “She’s put so much hard work into [her career]. The talent is there, but the hard work and the perseverance is there. That’s important.”

“I have a lot going on,” acknowledged Taylor-Joy, who also appears in the newly released Dune: Part Two. “But I feel very, very grateful. And being able to share tonight with my dad — just, cherry on top of the cake.”

During the show, Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth jointly presented the Academy Awards for Best Animated Short and Best Animated Feature, which went to War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko and The Boy and the Heron, respectively.
