The "Furiosa" star took home a gruesome souvenir from the "Mad Max" film.

Some actors take home costumes when a movie wraps production; Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy took home her castmate's tongue.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1, the actress revealed that she left the set of the Mad Max movie with a gruesome souvenir, in the form of Chris Hemsworth's prosthetic tongue. The prop was used in a scene that didn't make the final cut, in which Taylor-Joy's Furiosa cuts out the tongue of her mortal enemy, Hemsworth's Dementus.

"George [Miller, the director] was kind to me, he shot it, it's not in the movie, but the prop department gave [something] to me to take home — and that is Chris' tongue," Taylor-Joy said, cackling. "I've got Chris' prosthetic tongue in a box."

Apparently the idea was shocking even to Miller. "That was one of the ones where George was like, 'Anya!'" she said. In her defense, she added, "She silenced him!"

Taylor-Joy continued: "I thought it'd be cool, I don't know. They shot it for me, and that was very sweet." (For the record, the actress said she also took home Furiosa's mechanical arm.)

Taylor-Joy further discussed her thought processes in a recent interview with GQ, with the outlet describing the idea as "a moment of trying to out-crazy the director," all in the name of portraying "female rage" on screen.

"It was really important to me that the confrontation between Furiosa and Dementus be a physical one, and that it was hard-won," she said. "It needed it; she needed it. I think there is something in seeing this person turn to something more carnal within herself, where you feel a little conflicted because you are complicit in it… There was a relief when it was done."

She added, "For all my championing of female rage, I've never been an angry person. For a long time the only time I ever got angry was on other people's behalfs. I've always internalized this thing of 'I've done something wrong. If you treat me badly, it's because I am the problem.' And I'm so grateful for Furiosa, because there was a real moment where I started getting angry for myself. My husband was like 'I've never heard you be like this.' I was like, 'I'm glad! I'm glad that I'm angry!' If someone steps on me now I’m like, 'Hey, f--- you!' That makes me feel good."

Furiosa, which follows the titular character in the roughly two decades leading up to her journey in Mad Max: Fury Road, is in theaters now.
