After groin injury scare, Anthony Davis rallies for huge night against Lakers
New Orleans big man Anthony Davis looked like he suffered a significant groin injury against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
Instead, he had one of his biggest games of the season, posting 42 points and 15 rebounds in a 139-117 Pelicans win.
Davis crumpled to the floor in the first half after battling Lakers forward Julius Randle for a loose ball.

The injury-prone Davis immediately grabbed his groin after the fall and writhed on the floor before eventually heading to the locker room. It was a scary moment for Pelicans fans who had already seen Demarcus Cousins’ season cut short with a devastating Achilles’ tendon tear.
The Pelicans announced that Davis suffered a groin injury and was questionable to return.

But the fear was short-lived as Davis was back on the court after a brief absence and looked to be playing without pain.

Davis was clearly no worse for wear, needing just 18 shots from the field for his 42 points. He finished hitting 15-of-18 field goals and 10-of-11 free throws in one of the most efficient games of the NBA seasons.
But more importantly for the Pelicans and an already decimated Team LeBron at this weekend’s All-Star game, Davis is in good health.
