Michael Douglas says that he wanted his MCU character, Hank Pym, to die in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Speaking on The View to promote his new Apple TV+ series, Franklin, via Entertainment Weekly, Douglas said that he requested that Hank Pym be killed off in the latest Ant-Man movie.

“I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects,” Douglas said. “There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”

What did Michael Douglas say about Hank Pym’s MCU future?

Regarding Hank’s future in the MCU, Douglas said, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023, Douglas said he’d return for a potential fourth movie in the franchise “as long as [he] could die.”

At this time, Marvel Studios has not formally announced how they plan to continue the Ant-Man franchise or if there will be another entry following Quantumania.

Douglas first appeared in the MCU as Hank Pym in 2015’s Ant-Man, which was directed by Peyton Reed. Along with Quantumania and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp (both of which were also directed by Reed), Douglas had a minor role in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross/M.O.D.O.K., Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.

Marvel‘s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently streaming on Disney+.
