Ant and Dec took home two prestigious TV Choice Awards at Monday night’s annual TV Choice Awards. Scooping the best entertainment show for Saturday Night Takeaway and Best Reality Show for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Declan Donnelly accepted the awards solo.

These awards come following Ant McPartlin’s very public battle with alcoholism and his shocking drink and drive incident early this year. McPartlin has stepped down from hosting both shows following his addiction battles and rehab stint.

Donnelly has gone on to host Saturday Night Takeaway alone and Holly Willoughby has replaced McPartlin for the upcoming I”m a Celebrity…Get me out of Here! series.

McPartlin has kept a very low profile this year, and did not show up to Monday night’s TV Choice Awards. The awards were voted for by the public, proving that despite McPartlin’s problems, little seems to have effected their incredible popularity with the viewing public.

Piers Morgan let rip at the pair winning the awards on Good Morning Britain: “Ant and Dec winning everything when one half of them isn’t even there – it’s ridiculous, isn’t it? At least I pitched up for work,” Morgan said.

McPartlin is expected to return to his television presenting roles in 2019.

Other big winners last night included Coronation Street which took home ‘Best Soap’ and Emmerdale which took home Best Soap Actress for Emma Atkins portrayal of Charity Dingle and Best Soap Newcomer for Ned Porteous portrayal of Joseph Tate.

Strictly Come Dancing won Best Talent Show and Cillian Murray took home Best Actor for his role in Birmingham gangster drama Peaky Blinders.

Danny Dyer also shocked viewers when he gave an expletive-ridden thank you speech to David Cameron after winning Best Soap Actor for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders.
