ANOHI joined Laurie Anderson for a 9/11 episode of her radio series Party in the Bardo on the Wesleyan University station WESU. The pair played music by Diamanda Galás, Aretha Franklin, Steve Reich, Nina Simone, Nomi Ruiz, Meredith Monk, Marc and the Mambas, Klaus Nomi and more, discussing contemporary New York City on the 19th anniversary of September 11 attacks. Check out the show below.
The name of Anderson’s show is similar to the title of a 2019 record she put out with Tenzin Choegyal and Jesse Paris Smith that featured readings from The Tibetan Book of the Dead. So far this summer, ANOHNI has shared a new protest song called “R.N.C. 2020,” as well as a pair of covers.
