On the anniversary of 'Gilmore Girls' finale, Milo Ventimigila says it's 'never a no' when it comes to returning
Eleven years ago today, on May 15, 2007, the final episode of Gilmore Girls, aptly titled “Bon Voyage,” aired on the CW. For seven seasons, as the bond grew between Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), fans became so invested in the mother-daughter relationship that they felt like part of the Gilmore family.
But the show’s popularity stretched beyond Lorelai and Rory to Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy), and Lorelai’s father, Richard Gilmore (the late Edward Herrmann). Fans fiercely debated about Rory’s boyfriends, falling into Team Jesse (Milo Ventimiglia), Team Dean (Jared Padalecki), and Team Logan (Matt Czuchry).
Nine years after the denizens of Stars Hollow bid adieu, Netflix ordered a limited-run, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The four-part series, launched in 2016, picked up in present day, with Rory trying to find herself and ended on a major cliffhanger: Rory reveals that she is pregnant, leaving viewers to wonder, who is the father?!
Aside from learning the identity of the baby daddy, we want to know if there will be more episodes. Yahoo Entertainment sat down with Milo Ventimiglia and grilled him on these very important matters and also asked whether he’d be into revisiting the role of Jesse Mariano should Netflix reup the series. “Anything is possible,” he told us (watch above), adding, “Well, it’s never a no … give us 20 years.” We’re starting the countdown now.
