Annette Bening to Be Honored by Casting Society of America

Annette Bening will be honored Jan. 19 with the Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement at the 32nd annual Artios Awards, presented by the Casting Society of America at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The CSA recognizes career achievement by looking at an individual’s overall contribution to the industry.

“We’re privileged and honored to have Annette as our recipient this year, which we renamed the Lynn Stalmaster Award to honor his achievements in the casting profession, which include the first honorary Academy Award ever given to a casting director at this year’s Governors Awards,” said Richard Hicks, CSA president.

“Annette has taken on roles which have changed cultural conversations. She is an actress of great bravery and passion, and her work shows what’s possible when a remarkable actress meets the right opportunity. We are deeply grateful for her support to our community of casting directors throughout the years.”

Bening is a four-time Academy Award nominee for “The Kids Are All Right,” “Being Julia,” “American Beauty,” and “The Grifters,” a two-time Golden Globe winner for “Being Julia” and “The Kids Are All Right,” a BAFTA Award and Screen Actors Guild Award winner for best actress in “American Beauty,” and a 2006 Emmy Award nominee for her role in “Mrs. Harris.”

Her other screen credits include “Bugsy,” “The American President,” and “Open Range.” Bening co-stars in Warren Beatty’s “Rules Don’t Apply” and also plays the lead role in director Mike Mills’ “20th Century Women.”

Past recipients of the CSA Career Achievement Award include Ben Affleck, Quentin Tarantino, Norman Lear, David E. Kelley, Danny Boyle, and others.

The CSA will hold a simultaneous ceremony in New York, hosted by Michael Urie.
