‘Anne’ Trailer: Every Day Is an Adventure in New Netflix Series

“Girls can do anything a boy can do — and more!” a little, red-headed orphan girl declares in this exclusive trailer debut for Netflix’s Anne.

And in her own spunky, imaginative way, this 13-year-old is going to prove it and change the lives of the people around her.

Anne is an eight-episode adaptation of L.M. Montgomery’s beloved Anne of Green Gables novel. Netflix promises the series will explore “timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying, and prejudice.”

In the first season, premiering May 12, the titular character (Amybeth McNulty) is sent to live with an elderly brother and sister on their farm on Prince Edwards Island. Initially, they don’t want her, because they asked for a boy. Then, Anne faces more problems as the kids at the school taunt her for being an orphan. But with her sunny optimism, big smile, and even bigger imagination, Anne sets out to conquer hearts and minds.
