Anne Hathaway's latest obsession-worthy look is a clever riff on high/low, mixing a mall brand with a fine jewelry house — well, sort of.

For a Bulgari event in Rome on Monday night, the actor (a longtime ambassador for the Italian house) paired her sparkling diamond necklace, earrings, bracelet and rings with a custom Gap gown, designed by Gap Inc. Creative Director Zac Posen. It's made from the same cotton material as the brand's classic white shirt, and meant to serve as "a blank canvas to express one's style and creativity," per a press release.

The dress is a darted floor-length version of Gap's quintessential button-up, with a built-in corset and the collars reimagined as cap sleeves, styled slightly off the shoulder. Buttons travel down the center to create a customizable closure. (Hathaway opted for a thigh-high slit.)

On  Instagram, stylist Erin Walsh explained the inspiration behind the look: "We wanted to capture a modern take on 'Roman Holiday.'" It melds together two memorable outfits Audrey Hepburn wore in the 1953 film, a casual short-sleeve white button-down blouse and a bardot-style ballgown.

On the jewelry front, Hathaway donned an oversized diamond choker with a sapphire pendant, a full pavé wrap-around snake bracelet, diamond spiral-shaped earrings and a statement ring — all by Bulgari. White Christian Louboutin leather pumps and a silver Serpenti top handle bag completed her accessories.

In its press release, Gap also shared that "while the dress was made custom for Anne, [the brand] will be offering a version on Gap.com" in the near future.
