Anna Kendrick Talks Music Studio Collaboration With 'Trolls' Co-Star Justin Timberlake

Over the years, Anna Kendrick has had her share of illustrious A-list co-stars — including George Clooney and Ben Affleck — but her latest movie, Trolls, provided a unique opportunity for the oft-singing actress: getting to spend time in the recording studio with, and receive tips from, Grammy winner Justin Timberlake.

Kendrick and Timberlake headline the new 20th Century Fox’s animated film, and while the actress has had opportunities to sing in previous big-screen outings (most notably, in the two Pitch Perfect movies and 2014’s Into the Woods), she confesses to our Kevin Polowy that Trolls was the first time she received real notes on her singing for a movie, courtesy of Timberlake. According to at least one acquaintance of hers, the result was a musical performance that sounded more authentic than any other she’d previously delivered — a compliment that touched Timberlake enough to have him offer to buy the friend a decidedly cheesy thank-you gift.
