Anna Kendrick's official Twitter account was hacked on Saturday evening (12 December), resulting in a stream of around 30 tweets being sent out with some including the n-word.

From around 5.30pm, rogue tweets were sent out to Kendrick’s 7.2 million followers. They included offensive language such as “shoutout my n**** james bro” and “funky in this b**** n****”.

The website listed in the Twitter bio was also changed from the page for her book of personal essays, Scrappy Little Nobody, to “Thug.org.”

Kendrick's representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the account was compromised, and has now been secured.

The offending posts have been deleted and the account has been returned to its previous state.

Kendrick is best known for starring in the Pitch Perfect film series. She can next be seen in the sci-fi thriller Stowaway alongside Toni Collette.
