Per Deadline, Sony Pictures has successfully secured the movie rights to Grady Hendrix‘s 2023 short story Ankle Snatcher, which was part of Amazon Original Stories’ Creature Feature Collection.

What to expect in Ankle Snatcher?

“The story follows Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother — then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed,” reads the synopsis. “Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you. Marcus still heeds the superstition, especially when he invites his new girlfriend over. Is Marcus haunted by a creature or has he just inherited his father’s murderous delusions? The night will tell.”

Ankle Snatcher will also be produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Tony Shaw for Escape Artists, alongside Adam Goldworm for Aperture Entertainment. At the moment, the project has no director and cast attached to it yet.

Hendrix is best known for writing many horror novels such as Horrorstor, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, We Sold Our Souls, The Final Girl Support Group and How to Sell a Haunted House. Film adaptations of Horrorstör and How to Sell a Haunted House are also currently in development at New Republic and Legendary, respectively.
