Anita Baker’s latest performance in Houston caught much heat after concert-goers accused the coveted songstress of being inebriated and showing “bizarre” behavior. Baker took to social media platform X to respond to critics and included lyrics from Beyoncé’s “Heated.”

“When they realize, they can’t Stop Your Blessings?… they simply Lie. As in, Liability,” she wrote. “Screenshots? Are 4Ever. Lyrics: I’m as petty, as you are.”

Baker’s backlash online comes after videos surfaced of her apparently telling a fan in the front row to stop recording her and to move back. In another clip, someone spoke of the 65-year-old asking security to kick a few people out.

“I feel so bad for whoever had to really buy those tickets, and waited to go see her,” a TikTok user said in another video. “That woman sung four songs and I only knew two: “Caught Up In The Rapture” and “Angel.” We ain’t even get no “Sweet Love.” All we got was sh*t talking and her kicking people out. Crazy.”

Baker’s latest blowback follows similar sentiments she received earlier this year while performing in New Jersey. During her 15-date The Songstress Tour, concertgoers became disgruntled and disappointed after waiting two hours for Baker to hit the stage and not getting to see Babyface perform.

At the time, one attendee told VIBE that she witnessed a lady passing out while waiting for the show to start and also a fight that erupted in the audience.

According to another attendee, at one point during the show, Baker asked Live Nation (who organized the tour) if they came out to apologize to fans for the delay. Another fan vented to Twitter about the delay and also having to work in the morning. He then asked for a refund.

“I am at the Anita Baker concert, it is 2 hours late!” the disappointed supporter wrote. “This is unacceptable! Ppl have to work tomorrow, others don’t live in NJ and traveled here. No announcements have been made. Tickets were expensive. Disrespectful! Who is responsible for this? Shameful. #refund”

In another clip, the show’s host could be seen getting booed after announcing “technical difficulties” as the cause of the concert’s delay.

“First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight,” he began. “We did have some technical difficulties tonight. However, Ms. Baker isn’t going anywhere ya’ll she’s coming out tonight. Unfortunately because of these delays Ms. Baker wanted to be sure that she gave ya’ll the best that she could give.

“So unfortunately Babyface will no longer be performing,” he added as the audience roared with “boos.” “I deeply, deeply apologize.”

Following the show, Babyface spoke out about being “asked not to perform.”

“I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at @PruCenter,” he tweeted. “I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety. My band and I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight.”

Furthermore, Baker booted the music legend from the tour all together.

Fans of the “Two Occasions” singer began slamming Baker and her team, resulting in her dubbing his fanbase, “Kenny’s Crazies.”

“Kenny’s Crazies are online Bullies,” she tweeted in June. “@Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour ABXO.”

In a follow up to the latter, she also wrote, “After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings. ABXO”

In response, Babyface tweeted, “I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from ‘The Songstress Tour.’ It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.”
