In a historic moment in cinema, Ranbir Kapoor’s latest blockbuster Animal has reportedly shattered records. So far, Animal is the first Hindi film to cross the $1 million mark in North America on day 1. The movie, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, debuted in theatres with a resounding success that promises to redefine the trajectory of Kapoor’s career.

On December 1, 2023, Animal released worldwide, and early estimates of box office collections are also being reeled out. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Animal is poised to rake in a whopping $7.1 million in India alone on its opening day.

After all, the movie is expected to have a global opening surpassing $11 million mark. The film’s success is foretold as it garnered one of the most substantial pre-sales in the history of Indian cinema. Reportedly, it sold nearly 5 lakh tickets before its release.

In addition, Taran Adarsh, an acclaimed trade analyst, emphasized the film’s dominance across diverse demographics. He states, “From urban centres to mass pockets, from multiplexes to single screens, from Tier-1 to Tier-2 and Tier-3 centres, from East to West and from North to South, it’s Animal mania all across.”

The movie reviews pouring in on X (formerly Twitter) hold evidence for the above claim.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for the blockbuster Kabir Singh, helms Animal with a promise of groundbreaking violence rarely witnessed in Indian cinema. However, this is not the only first exceptional feat by the film.

In recent history, Animal is the first Hindi movie to have one of the longest runtime. The Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer is 3 hours and 21 minutes long. According to recent reports, the film also boasts an 18-minute-long interval block. Moreover, the film’s post-credit scene hints at a sequel.
