'I'm a boyfriend jean all day long — with a collared shirt. That's my signature," the actress and former model tells PEOPLE
Angie Harmon may be a mother of three, but she is definitely not into mom jeans.
"Hated 'em then. Hate 'em now!" the Buried in Barstow star, 51, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Though her daughters Emery, 14, Avery, 18, and Finley, 20, have pushed her to wear some trendier clothes, Harmon says she's more of a "classic style girl."
"I mean, I'm a boyfriend jean all day long — with a collared shirt. That's my signature."
As for her mini-me girls, "I mean, they don't wear clothes," she jokes. "I'm like, 'That's not a shirt, that's a belt. I appreciated the ingenuity of it, but no, go put something on.' But I think it's hilarious that all these teenage girls are dressing like we did in the '80s and how they've brought back mom jeans."

As a single mom, Harmon says she also can't get comfortable in some of the more feminine styles that the ladies wear in Charlotte, North Carolina, where her family resides, as she's doing a lot of the heavy lifting around the house as well.
"They wear dresses during the day and I'm just like, no, I can't. No. It's like a long, flowy situation, which I get and I wish I could do it, but I put that on and I feel encumbered," the former Law & Order actress shares. "I don't feel like I can get anything done."
"And P.S., those are also the women who don't have to lift the 60-pound dog food bags, you know what I mean?" the star adds. "So my lifestyle is more appreciative of a boyfriend jean or a skinny jean, or God forbid, a high-waisted barrel leg."

The former model, however, is used to rocking a slew of styles, as she grew up doing shoots all over the world and has graced covers of magazines like Elle, Esquire and Cosmopolitan.
On the runway, Harmon has walked for Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani and the denim king himself, Calvin Klein.
These days, though, she isn't too proud (or scared!) to keep asking her kids for their opinions on her wardrobe.
"I'll go in and I'll say, 'Which shoe?' or 'The bottom half or the top half?' My youngest will be like, 'That's not my favorite,' which in a 14-year-old speech pattern means, 'You're not leaving the house like that.' And I'll be like, 'Alright, well I appreciate your candidness and thank you very much.' And then I'll come back in and she'll be like, 'Okay, yeah, that's cheap.' "
"The oldest one, she's in college, so I'll FaceTime her and be like, "Do you like this? And she'll be like, "Not really.' I'll be like, "Oh, okay. Hang on a second, I'll call you back.' "
