Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne made a rare red carpet appearance together on Thursday night, at the premiere of the Broadway play The Outsiders.

Jolie and the 15-year-old daughter she shares with Brad Pitt, her ex, were pictured together at the Bernard B Jacobs theatre in New York.

It was the first red carpet appearance that Vivienne has made since 2021, when she accompanied her mother and siblings to the premiere of Jolie’s Marvel movie, Eternals.

Jolie, 48, dazzled in a bronze cape with a matching silk dress which she paired with a bold red lip.

Meanwhile, her daughter went with a blue jumpsuit, matching her look with Justin Levine, who is responsible for the show’s book, music and lyrics.

The Oscar-winner is a producer of the new play, with her daughter taking a role behind the scenes as her assistant.

“Viv is a young artist who focuses her efforts on her support of others,” Jolie told People magazine on the red carpet.

“She has been there to assist in any way she can and has learned so much from Justin Levine and the whole creative team.”

Last August, Jolie told Page Six: “Viv reminds me of my mother [actress/producer Marcheline Bertrand] in that she isn’t focused on being the centre of attention but in being a support to other creatives.

“[Vivienne is] very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.”

This isn’t the first time Vivienne has taken an interest in following in her mother’s footsteps. In 2014, she starred alongside the star in Maleficent.

The Outsiders, which is set to run until September, is based on SE Hinton’s 1967 novel – and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film adaptation – about rival gangs dealing with the repercussions of one member’s death in Oklahoma in 1964.
