Angelina Jolie Celebrated Son Maddox's 18th Birthday — But Where Was Brad Pitt?

The Jolie-Pitt kids have been put through the wringer — including their relationship with their dad. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son Maddox celebrated his 18th birthday at a Cleveland brewery this week — but there was one guest noticeably missing: his dad.

According to Radar Online, the celebration took place at Market Garden Brewpub with Maddox and Jolie celebrating with family friend and activist Loung Ung. The group snapped a photo together, their table laden with a bunch of delicious goodies. The group then hit up the Ohio City Farm, where the Refugee Response Program helps provide agricultural training and jobs for those displaced in the area, before ending the day at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

But much like Maddox’s sister Shiloh, who spent her birthday at an escape room with Jolie solo, dad Pitt was nowhere to be found. Pitt, who’s been out promoting his latest movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has been reportedly estranged from his kids since he and Jolie split. It’s said the kids reportedly disapprove of his smoking habit, but that seems to be the tip of the iceberg.

We know that he spent Father’s Day alone, and while he’s reportedly taking his kids on mini-vacations and spending the summer with them while Jolie films a new movie, their relationship still seems on the rocks. A source for Radar Online claims Pitt’s eldest claims Maddox and Pax “never want to see him, and that hurts him. They’re on Angie’s side — and always have been.”

Maddox, though, is moving on with his life. He’ll be attending Yonsei University in South Korea later this month where he’ll study biochemistry. Jolie is said to be “very proud” of him, according to People.
