Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are tired of being an estranged married couple, so they’re working out a deal that will officially declare them single and not legally married, while they settle up the separation of property and hammer out a permanent custody order.

Sources very close to the former Hollywood power couple tell us Jolie and Pitt are negotiating a “bifurcated judgment” of their status as a married couple. Basically, they will both be considered divorced and single, but will still have to negotiate the final judgement, including assets and custody.

We’re told the stars “both want to get on with their lives and no longer want to be married to each other.” Our sources say the rush for a separation is not because either person is in a significant relationship, but that they need to “emotionally move on.”

The final settlement will likely take several months, as there are lots of financial specifics to sift through on both sides. As we previously reported, Jolie and Pitt have a temporary custody order in place while they continue to negotiate the final deals.

However, the last time Jolie and Pitt faced off to negotiate their split, it did not go well. Hopefully once they are declared single, the emotions can be focused on a peaceful resolution.

In major Hollywood divorces this is sometimes done because the financial split is so complicated. In this case, we are told these two just want to not be married anymore on paper.
