Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has welcomed a familiar face to the lifelong sisterhood. Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt is one of the newest members of the sorority at Spelman College, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Atlanta.

A video of the probate ceremony was shared by ESSENCE on Wednesday (Nov. 15) night. In the clip, the 18-year-old introduces herself to the college campus as a member of the “Sweet” Mu Pi Chapter.

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California,” she proclaimed as the crowd cheered. “I am this line’s number seven.”

Angelina Jolie (R) leaves with her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt after a news conference at the U.S. Capitol February 9, 2022 in Washington, DC. Jolie joined a group of bipartisan U.S. senators at a news conference to announce a bipartisan modernized Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Zahara Jolie-Pitt enrolled at Spelman in the fall semester of 2022, a proud moment for her mother, actress Angelina Jolie.

“Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl,” wrote the Maleficent star on Instagram when sharing the news.

The 48-year-old visited her daughter on campus that year during the annual homecoming celebration.

Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc. is the first intercollegiate, historically African American sorority and was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. in 1908. The Mu Pi Chapter was established in 1979.

Upon graduation, Zahara Jolie-Pitt joins the ranks of several notable Spelman alumni including Stacey Abrams, Keisha Knight-Pulliam, Cassi Davis, Avery Sunshine, Bernice King and more.
