Simmons’ was motivated to create her vegan dessert brand after realizing there wasn’t anything like it on the market. She enlisted the help of vegan restauranteur Cole on the new venture. During an interview on “Audacy’s V-103’s Big Tigger Morning Show,” Simmons explained how she’d been a vegan for fifteen years. She said after a sit down with Cole, her creation was born.

“There is no vegan funnel cake,” she said in the interview. “Where? Tell me where you can get a vegan funnel cake?”

She also mentioned how people have enjoyed the funnel cakes, even those who aren’t vegan.

“I’ve had a lot of people who are not vegan try it,” she said. “It’s really good, and I’m not just saying it ‘cuz it’s mine. I want you to go try it yourself.”

In true Simmons fashion, she created a cute promotional for her new line. In a ’50s-inspired video, Simmons works on whipping up a pastry recipe, but after multiple failed attempts, Simmons needs help. She called Cole and was able to create her vegan funnel cake successfully.

“You can finally have vegan Funnel cake ANYTIME of year!” Simmons wrote in the video’s caption.

Simmons also advised fans that the funnel cake mix can be used to make to make pancakes.
