Angel Reese speaks out after missing a moment on the court.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Louisiana State University women’s basketball star stirred up rumors after missing last Friday’s (Nov. 17) matchup against Southeastern Louisiana. In the previous game last week against Kent State, Reese was benched in the second half.

According to Coach Kim Mulkey, it was a “coach’s decision.” After Reese’s absence on Friday, Mulkey continued to explain the Maryland native “is a part of this basketball team, and we hope she’s back with the team soon. I’m not gonna answer any more than that.”

Taking to social media, the 21-year-old offered her take on the current controversy.

“Please don’t believe everything you read,” Reese urged fans on X over the weekend.

“I feel like for me, it’s just changing the stereotype that you can be girly on and off the court. I’m a girly girl. I’m going to have my nails, lashes, mascara… just all of that done. That’s just my thing, that’s what I do. But on the court, I’m a dog. You can ask Flaujae [Johnson], I’m super competitive. And even in games my lashes will come off and at halftime, I’ll go figure that out. But just understanding you can be both. You don’t have to look a certain kind of way,” Reese explained of her impact on women’s sports to VIBE.

According to 4WWL, before she was benched, the Bayou Barbie started LSU’s first four games, and the Tigers went 3-1. With three games in the next six days, there is no confirmation on when Reese will return to the court.

In last year’s championship season, Reese averaged 23 points and 15.4 rebounds per game.
