Andy Taylor joins Kyle Meredith to run through Man’s a Wolf to Man, his first solo album of original material in 36 years.

The former Duran Duran guitarist covers a wide range of topics over the course of the conversation. He talks about how he first considered a Power Station reunion before deciding to focus on himself, how his songwriting is recovering from a lifetime in pop, and the impact David Bowie’s death had on him.

Taylor then draws parallels between his new songs and the politically-charged, lost Duran Duran album Reportage. He goes on to talk about the the lack of protest songs in pop music, while pointing out how Jason Aldean and Anthony Oliver are finding success filling that role in country music.

“The two biggest songs [are] both country songs that are protest songs: Jason Aldean and the guy with the beard,” he says. “And [Oliver Anthony] said, ‘Hold on a second you politics, sling your hook, that’s got nothing to do with it. I believe in diversity, I believe in people. I don’t believe what rich men north of Richmond are doing to us.'”
