Andy Cohen is fast becoming friend Anderson Cooper’s parenting wingman (if that wasn’t a thing before, it is now). And it isn’t just sage advice that Cohen has to offer, either. During a virtual visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, Cooper revealed just how much he’s been leaning on Cohen for help navigating his first full week of fatherhood with son Wyatt Morgan Cooper.

Last week, Cooper surprised fans by announcing he welcomed his first child into the world via surrogate. It was, as to be expected, a special milestone for Cooper — one he’s still in awe over a week into his little boy’s life. “I just stare at him and hold him. I just can’t believe that he’s gonna depend on me and that he’s here. I’ve always dreamed about it, but I just never thought I’d be able to do it,” he gushed.

Although being a new parent can be overwhelming, it helps that Cooper has fantastic friends like Cohen in his corner. “He obviously knew about it well in advance, and he’s been encouraging me all along,” Cooper said, then confessing, “He’s actually really helped me because my son is entirely wearing hand-me-downs from Andy Cohen’s son [Benjamin].”

Granted, Cooper could undoubtedly afford to buy baby Wyatt a whole new wardrobe if he wanted. But as he tells it, relying on hand-me-downs from his pal just made sense. “I’m inherently cheap. I like a good value,” Cooper said.

He continued, addressing the fact that shopping for his new baby amid a global pandemic wasn’t exactly an enticing prospect. “I was planning on kind of going shopping, which I hate to do. Then online shopping, where do go? How do you do that for baby clothes? … I don’t know; it just seemed weird. So, [Cohen] just gave me all the clothes.”

It doesn’t stop there! Cohen apparently also quote-unquote loaned Cooper the nanny who helps him with 15-month-old Benjamin. “I’ve been talking about my nanny [saying] she’s leaving, that she’s gonna go help out a friend. And the moment Anderson announced it, I got a bunch of DMs from eagle-eared Radio Andy listeners saying, ‘Wait… is that where your nanny went?’’ Cohen explained on his SiriusXM radio show. “The answer is yes, that is where my nanny went.”

Hmm, we’re suddenly filled with the suspicion that our inner circle may not love us enough. Hand-me-down clothes, nannies, advice — everyone needs a BPF (best parenting friend) like Cohen.
