Andy Cohen is all about bringing a new attitude to the new year.

Speaking with PEOPLE about his partnership with Walmart+ to "Save Your Resolutions" and commit to better habits in the New Year, the Bravo personality, 55, opens up about how that extends to his life at home with daughter Lucy Eve, 20 months, and son Benjamin Allen, 4½.

Cohen's own resolutions are helping him start the year modeling behaviors he hopes to see in his kids as they grow.

"Kids don't have a lot of patience, but we're working on it. If the toy's not working, they want to throw it. But you want to show them and say, 'Hey, stay with this. Let's figure this out.' It doesn't always work, but sometimes," he tells PEOPLE.

The father of two is having a blast seeing his little ones come into their own. On social media, he shares relatable parenting moments raising his precious daughter and his "funny little boy."

"He's so funny, and that tickles me for obvious reasons," the proud dad says of son Ben. "I love it that he makes me laugh. I posted something the other day where he was collecting bottle caps and I said, 'What are you gonna do with these bottles?' And he said, 'I'm gonna put them on bottles.' I mean, it's quite literal, but I thought, 'Oh, you're smart.'"

Ben turns 5 next month and he's requested a "low-key" party for the occasion.

"I walked him to school today and he said he wants a very low-key birthday party. So I haven't started planning, but I do think we're just going to do something around the house, which is fine with me," he laughs.

As for Lucy, the father of two is excited that his little girl "is really about to talk."

"She just seems like she's woken up in terms of consciousness. You can see she understands a lot of what's being said around her and I love that."

Cohen kicked off the New Year with buddy Anderson Cooper on CNN, publicly making a resolution to spend less time on his phone, particularly around his kids. Cohen tells PEOPLE his attempts are going well so far.

"I've enlisted the people around my house to also tell me when I'm on my phone in front of the kid. It's definitely a huge growth area," he shares.

Many of Cohen's desires for growth in the new year — which include "less phone time, more patience on family road trips, healthier sleep, and cutting down on drinking" — are tied to his life as a dad of two.

Walmart+ is a huge help in reaching those goals for Cohen and others trying to take a step in the right direction to kick off 2024.

"Walmart is all about saving your resolutions. Most people quit their resolutions [during] the second week of January. With a Walmart+ membership, it's the ultimate savings membership. It saves you time and money with things like free grocery delivery, free shipping and discounted fuel — and if you sign up before the end of January, you're going to get $50 in Walmart cash."

Cohen admits, "Time and money are things that are going to go into positive reinforcement of resolution saving."

"So I'm all for it. And another thing I love about this campaign is it's causing me to be mindful of the fact I set these goals for myself. Like, 'What are you doing to boost these goals so that they actually happen?'"

Cohen was also mindful when picking his resolutions, explaining, "having a resolve behind your resolutions is good."

"If there's meaning, it's ultimately going to bring you more positivity. With less phone time and more patience with my kids, or taking care of myself physically, those are all things I'm going to see results in. That's the positive encouragement that keeps me going," he says. "And saving time and money with Walmart+, that's a boon too."

Along with being a year of saved resolutions, 2024 also marks Cohen's 20th anniversary at Bravo and 15th year hosting Watch What Happens Live. Cohen is looking forward to continuing on strong and enjoying every moment.

"It's just still getting to do it. They still let me do Watch What Happens Live, and I still get to produce all these shows that I love so much and that other people love so much. I feel so grateful to still be part of the family."
