About the shoe

Scott’s shoe is a menswear staple. He wore a classic men’s slip-on loafer with no socks. The leather shoe features two tassels sitting atop the kiltie, the piece of fringe-like leather on the top of the shoe.

The shoe also features brogue detailing on the toe and throughout the body. The combination of the kiltie, tassels, brogue dealing and the low cut of the top of the shoe is distinct.

Tassel Loafers: An American Shoe

Though they may be common now, tassel loafers were created in post-World War II America. They were reportedly created by Alden Shoe Company. They were first produced in 1952 and became affiliated with a sort of preppy, country club lifestyle. Tasseled loafers were stocked at Brooks Brothers as early as 1957. They have long been viewed as a sort of casual but distinctive men’s shoe.
