As the legal controversy surrounding former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to unravel, a positive development within the family has emerged, offering a much brighter contrast to the otherwise troubling headlines.

For those who aren’t up to date on the latest in a slew of allegations against the former governor, Cuomo’s former executive assistant, Brittany Commisso, filed a lawsuit against him alleging sexual harassment on November 23. Commisso alleges that Cuomo subjected her to “humiliating and demeaning tasks, hugs, kisses, sexual touching of the buttocks and forcible touching of the breast,” during her tenure from 2019 to August 2021.

However, despite the turbulent backdrop, Mariah Kennedy Cuomo, the former governor’s 28-year-old daughter, has recently celebrated a significant personal milestone. The Northwestern University business school graduate announced her engagement to long-time partner, Tellef Lundevall.

“That’s amore! Love you and yes a million times over,” Mariah captioned her Instagram post of the moment itself. One photo features Lundevall popping the question on top of a very scenic mountain in Italy, and in the second Mariah has her hand on Lundevall’s chest, showing off her impressive engagement ring.

The proposal happened as Mariah was vacationing in Italy with her twin sisters, Cara and Michaela, along with their father, for Thanksgiving. According to Page Six, Lundevall, who became known as “the boyfriend” during the former governor’s COVID-19 briefings, surprised Mariah with the engagement by flying in and popping the question. He also reportedly asked the disgraced former governor, who was “over the moon” about his daughter’s engagement, for permission before asking for Mariah’s hand in marriage.

Even with her dad’s mounting legal woes, it’s good to see Mariah stepping up and creating her own journey. The former governor has not yet made any statement regarding the latest lawsuit or his daughter’s happy news.
