Andra Day, Hanson, Elle King and More Stars to Perform at Inaugural Grammy Hall of Fame Gala

Performers will pay tribute to Grammy Hall of Fame inducted recordings, like Lauryn Hill's 'The Miseducation’ and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"

Andra Day, Hanson, Elle King, The War and Treaty and more stars are set to perform at this year’s first-ever Grammy Hall of Fame Gala. Per a press release, the May 21 ceremony, presented by City National Bank, which will take place at The Novo in Downtown Los Angeles, will also feature performances from newly announced artist William Bell, plus others like Ravyn Lenae and Shinedown.

The entire lineup will pay tribute to the 2024 Grammy Hall of Fame inducted recordings, with Day performing a song from Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Bell singing his song “You Don’t Miss Your Water,” The War and Treaty performing Charley Pride’s “Kiss an Angel Good Morning,” King singing Wanda Jackson’s “Let’s Have A Party,” Hanson performing the Doobie Brothers’ “What a Fool Believes,” Lenae singing Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly,” and Shinedown taking on Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.”

Other recordings being honored this year include De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising, Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite for Destruction, and Buena Vista Social Club’s Buena Vista Social Club, plus records by Donna Summer and Kid Ory’s Creole Orchestra.

The gala — which includes a red carpet and VIP reception followed by a concert — will also salute iconic record label Atlantic Records, which already has over 38 recordings inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, for its 75th anniversary.

This year, the Recording Academy and Grammy Museum decided to reinstate the Grammy Hall of Fame in time for its 50th anniversary following a two-year hiatus. It was first established by the Recording Academy's National Trustees in 1973 to celebrate “recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old,” according to a press release. That mission continues this year as 10 new recordings — four albums and six singles — are being inducted.

"We're proud to unveil the diverse mix of recordings entering the Grammy Hall Of Fame in its 50th year," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement unveiling the 2024 inductees. "The music showcased here has played a pivotal role in shaping our cultural landscape, and it's a true honor to recognize these albums and recordings, along with the profound influence each has had on music and beyond."

"The artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers who composed this year's inducted recordings are a reflection of the sheer talent and hard work that goes into creating such seminal music," Grammy Museum President/CEO Michael Sticka added. "It's a privilege to be able to welcome these new additions into our distinguished catalog and celebrate the recordings at our inaugural gala on May 21."
