Andra Day Dedicates ‘Austin City Limits’ Performance To Orlando Shooting Victims

The soul singer dedicated a performance of her song "Rise Up" to the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre.

Singer Andra Day dedicated a performance of her song “Rise Up” to the victims of the massacre that took place at a gay nightclub in Orlando on Jun. 12.

“I think it would be remiss of us not to sort of have a moment of silence,” Day told the audience, as the sound of piano keys twinkled in the background. “We were all broken-hearted when we heard it…how soon will it be before we realize that hate and anger and revenge are the least powerful forces in the universe and that love is that only all-powerful force that conquers all?”

Day also involved the audience by having them sing along to the song’s chorus, encouraging all voices to lift up together in harmony and love.

Day’s moving words, coupled with her powerful vocal control, made the performance one to remember. Enjoy the stunning performance paying tribute to the victims and their loved ones below.
